The Legacy Capital Management team is just that: a team. All firm members develop a relationship with each client to ensure efficient and seamless communication, responsiveness, and service. As partners in our clients' success, we stress access to each team member to fully tap our diverse skills, knowledge, and experiences.

Joe Milam
President
Joe is responsible for the formation and development of the firm. Beginning with E.F. Hutton in 1985, he began working with money managers, eventually joining BIL Trainer Wortham, a division of the Bank in Liechtenstein, in 1990 as an assistant portfolio manager. In 1992, he assumed the responsibility of senior portfolio manager, and in 1993, acquired and renamed the company Legacy Capital Management, Inc. His expertise with CSHOLT's CFROI® framework has led to profiles in various domestic and international publications, including Barron's, CFO, MSN MoneyCentral, Crain's Chicago Business, and Investor Relations (sister publication to The Economist). In addition, he has spoken around the country on the implementation of the CFROI® framework. Joe holds a B.S. in Finance from California State University, Chico.

Jim McCarthy
Chief Operating Officer

Jim has been working with high net worth clients since 1996. In addition to advising clients on a broad array of wealth management matters, he co-heads the firm's investment committee, is responsible for the daily execution of the portfolio management process, and is the firm's compliance officer. He began his career in the financial services industry in 1987, working in real estate syndication, tax, financial analysis and product development. He joined Legacy Capital Management in 1996 and has had primary responsibility for portfolio management and the research process since 2000. Jim has contributed to several regional and national publications — including Barron's, Los Angeles Times, Crain's Chicago Business, Sacramento Bee, and Sacramento Business Journal — on company stock valuation, investor psychology, and various stock market issues. He also has guest lectured on these topics for various groups, including the American Cancer Society and the College of Business Administration at California State University, Sacramento. He also is on the board of directors for a local start-up growth company. He graduated with a B.S. in Finance from the University of Colorado in 1986 and is a member of the CFA Society of Sacramento.

Dagmar Hotel
Vice President

Dagmar joined Legacy Capital Management in 1996 and is responsible for client service and communication, new accounts processing, and office administration. She is also our corporate secretary. Before joining Legacy, she spent 12 years with First Commercial Bank, where she served as the executive assistant to two presidents of the bank and spent three years as corporate secretary, responsible for stockholder/investor relations, board administration, and overall maintenance of the company's organizational records and structure. Prior to First Commercial Bank, Dagmar worked for 10 years with Pacific Legal Foundation as an executive assistant.

Lisa Dixon
Vice President

Lisa Dixon joined Legacy Capital Management as Operations Manager in the fall of 2004. She is responsible for daily operations including compliance, new accounts, reconciliation, and quarterly performance reporting. Lisa has been in the financial services industry since 1983, beginning her career with Merrill Lynch. In 1985, she moved on to Lexington Capital Management, where she spent nearly 8 years running the portfolio operations group and compliance division. Barclays Global Investors recruited her in 1992 to manage its domestic portfolio accounting division. She then joined E*Trade in 1998, where she was responsible for operations of its business services division.

Sean Talley
Assistant Portfolio Manager

Sean Talley is Legacy Capital Management's newest member, joining the firm in February 2008. He has responsibilities in the areas of research, trading, operations and information technology. Prior to Legacy, Sean interned with Credit Suisse HOLT as a research analyst and with Grantham, Mayo, Van Otterloo & Co. as an Emerging Markets trading assistant. Sean recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northeastern University in Boston, MA with a B.S. in Finance and Accounting.
